Barcia and Baggett get new National Numbers for 2012

Look for a few number changes for the 2012 AMA MX season. While most AMA Pro MXers will be able to retain the same numbers they had last year, some won't. Case in point. Justin Barcia ran #17 for 2011. For 2012 he will run #20 for next year. His former #17 goes to Eli Tomac.

Love it or hate it, one of the more interesting things about professional motocross today, is that some riders are allowed to keep numbers they want, instead of having them assigned. This does allow for some continuity in the racing community, with fans able to follow the same rider, season after season, and be able to spot them out on the track more easily.
In some cases, a new career National Number is awarded to a racer the following year. For 2012, former National #57- Blake Baggett gets to become #12. Former National #12 rider -Tommy Hahn is now #32.
